ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: The Cricket World Cup to be held this year is being organized in India. The possible date of which is being told between 5 October to 19 November. According to the news published in the well-known website ESPN Cric Info, the BCCI has shortlisted a dozen cricket stadiums for the One Day Cricket World Cup 2023. At the same time, there is a plan to hold the final match of this biggest ICC event at the world’s largest cricket stadium, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Venue
Apart from Ahmedabad, the shortlist includes Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot and Mumbai. The entire tournament will consist of 48 matches including three knockouts over a period of 46 days.
However, till now the official information about the venue for the World Cup has not been given by the BCCI. The main reason for the delay is weather etc. It is very important what the weather will be like in which venue during the match.
Awaiting approval from Government of India
Usually, the ICC announces the World Cup schedule at least a year in advance, but this time it is also waiting for the BCCI to get the necessary approval from the Indian government. Two major issues involved, getting tax exemption for the tournament, and visa clearance for the Pakistan team, which has not played in India since the beginning of 2013, except for ICC events.
At the ICC’s quarterly meeting in Dubai last weekend, the BCCI had assured the world body that the visas for the Pakistan contingent would be cleared by the Indian government. As far as the issue of tax exemption is concerned, it is expected that the BCCI will soon update the ICC about the exact position of the Government of India.
